If we have to choose an idea linked to casinos is the idea of glamour and elegance. This image, expanded thanks to the iconic work of cinema, has always been manifested in the clothes selected by those who usually visit the casino online. The etiquette or dress-code in a casino has its origins in the different social classes and a way to establish differences between them.
The habit of etiquette has lasts through time, up to these days, and it varies depending on the zone we are in. The differences between the United States and Europe are accented by several details. In American casinos dressing rules have not just disappeared, but they never were particularly rigid. In the other side we find Europe, represented by its most glamorous exponent: Monte Carlo.
In their casinos, clothes like short pants, t-shirts or informal shoes are a complete taboo and, for example, in the famous Paris Casino, jacket and tie are indispensable to enter the luxurious building. Besides, some casino games are more sensitive to an adequate dressing than others. Of course, baccarat or blackjack are among the most elegant games.
These are opposite tendencies but there are still several casinos (especially in Europe) that apply more or less strict dress-codes. There are four general categories of etiquette and each casino normally applies one of them.
Formal etiquette obliges casino players to wear appropriate clothing for a high-level event, in general a jacket and tie. Semi-formal etiquette implies wearing a normal jacket, with no need to wear a tie. Casual etiquette implies we can wear almost anything, as long as we have taste. The non-jacket etiquette implies that we can wear whatever we want, including shorts and sandals.
